Suppose you finally can make it run and you go to any of the 2 indoor tracks, you will try a few packs of battery and you will go home and forget modifying it. Forgive me to tell you the reason: because you will understand that you are now wasting time.
why?
Some possible reasons for me to have commented that way:
1. No bearings are used for the F & R diff and the centre differential.
2. Centre shaft is not "One piece" and that will swing.
3. You abused the FRP and that will lead to too much clearance that makes the car difficult to control.
4. Nothing is based on a currently running car and you didn't do any geometry calculation and thus you wouldn't know how to make it run fast.
5. The speed control is still too big and you probably are not using a high grade 2.4 receiver. I have tried nearly all mini size FM receivers and none can allow any mini-z to run fast.
6. the centre diff is a burden instead of a blessing, trust me.
Any of the above makes your car run more slowly than a well set MR02, not to mention the AWD. (Except if you run it at home for fun and not competing with anybody.)
樓主, u are going too far la...
1. i will find ways to add bearings.
2. i don't think there wil be string...as every part are fixed
3. FRP this version is just for testing. LAter will use alloy
4. if everything is based on a running car, then what is the use of diy...?
5. the speed control maybe still too big ....but i think it is one of the most smallest esc for brushless ...
6. i really don't know whether it is burden...can you give me suggestions to imporve it.
we do DIY when we can't find similar parts in the market.
ATM and Eagle Racing now has SAS for the rear of the car which is similar to what u are doing.
so why not modify from available parts, maybe u can use two sets of SAS and Diy the chasis and centre transmissions.
anyway, just some crazy thoughts作者: billy86che 時間: 2008-3-17 00:12
These are what deadmatch misunderstood and I would like to clarify:
2. A fixed shaft like this will not be balanced and that will "SWING" (not string)
3. FRP or even C-FRP are not suitable for making "ALL" parts of a car. You should choose the most suitable material for different parts. (Some may be plastics, some metal and others C-FRP.)
4. I did not mean you should keep any parts from the market but without any running car, you can't know how fast your DIY is because there is no comparison.
5. I have no confidence in that ESC and the bigger problem is it makes you use a receiver and I haven't found anything on the market trustworthy except the 2.4G spectrum. Risk your money if you don't trust me.
6. A centre differential is useful on a real car but so far no one has found it useful on a 1/10 (either electric or nitro). You should be able to imagine how useless it will become when the scale is further reduced to 1/27.

If this is for fun / experimental, then you've made a good toy for yourself.
But if u really think this can compete to a regularly well setted-up MR02 / AWD ( I mean in a track not a long straigth ), maybe ...............
my opinion, not regarding any construction, geometry. The weight alone is already a big problem.
Not trying to offend, just my 2 cents.
But your effort and spirit is EXELLENT !!!

all I can see are "nuts", anyway I praise your DIY spirit, keep it up 作者: deadmatch 時間: 2008-3-17 07:54
thanks all guys, i love this kind of communication, it can give people ideas and know where the problem is.
1. sorry for the type mistakes. i know 老師 what you are talking about the central shaft. this problem has also been posted by other people but after discussing, we have found a method to fix it.
2. yet i know that different part should use different materials....however this FRP version is just use for geometry purpose. Later some parts will change the material....it's all my fault that i don't have a cnc and i don't know how to use the computer to draw... by the way, do some 師兄can help me in this section?
3. i don't want to keep anypart out of the martket by i can't find a suitable part for my idea. Using 2 SAS from ATM OR EAGLE is really a brillant idea. However, idon't think that it can be suit into the front part. But anyway, I really love this idea.
4. that esc is just the cheapest esc to use brushless motor, i just want to try. i know sprectum 2.4G is trustworthy, but i think that the receiver can be changed from time to time to try which is the best.
5.about the central diff, one word again..."TRY". if nobody want to try and say it is not useful, i think this situation is not so good. Using the centraldiff as i communicate with miniz player in china, they have also made brushless in miniz and they found that the power is too much. After discussing, we hope this idea can balance the power of the rear and front .
6. about the weight problem, this now is not over 100g and i believe that in the power of brushless, the weight is not a problem

I give up convincing you to stop but one day, one day you will understand why I'm saying all these here. Continue with your attempt then. Think of working only after you finish your public exam.

btw, don't use so many nuts, juse 2mm king pins plus spacers.
u can consider overland, F1, monster, mr02 stainless king pins, they are all of different lengths.
if i am right (from longest to shortest)
Overland (chasis) > MR02 > F1 > Monster > Overland (steering)作者: deadmatch 時間: 2008-3-17 18:05
i know that using king pin is really a good idea. 2mm is the best. however, even the shortest one in miniz, it is still too long for this diy, but king pin can be diy also^^ do any 師兄know where can find 2mm steel pin?
