this is my first R/C boat

One of my boat friend owns this small sail boat, and he borrowed this boat to me for a trail run in last year. In my opinon, this small yacht is not suitable to play at wild sea, especially with wind force higher than BF 2. My advise for this small yacht is that you should play this tiny yacht in model boat pool.

This is a beginner type r/c yacht, ready to run without modification, but upgrade the sail servo will make you react more quickly on the control of sail with response to change of wind direction.

brother skipper, sail servo has big size, the RTR ones are both futaba 3003 size. pls advise so.

Sail servo is not suitable due to its bigger size, and huge torque output for this tiny sail boat.

The point to "Upgrade servo", is to increase the torque output under the same physical size. You may ask shop keepers at KWS, which brand/model has more torque output but with same size of model 3003.

From Internet, "Futaxx" servo model 3003 is a standard servo, with dimensions 1.6 x 0.8 x 1.4 in, output torque is 44.4 oz-in at 4.8 volts.

Both "Futaxx" S3010 and S3305 servos has higher torque output (72.2/98.6 Oz-in.), with almost same dimensions(1.6 x 0.8 x 1.5 in.) of S3003

Before upgrade the, you should check and ensure the size of new servo can be fit into the servo mounting/hull.

In the summer of 2006, one of my boat friend has upgraded his Fortune 612 by equipped with "HI-Txx" servo. The result is that he can pull the sail inward at sooner time, and the boat can pick up speed more promptly and go faster.
