In the Before mid 60's each Grand-Prix F-1 team has its' own team color as a main theme on their chassis., and until TV coverage and advertisement become major sponsorship, Lotus
remain green color like this.
The photo shown here may mean the team is still open for a major sponsor.

Yes, that's traditional British Racing Green, at 60's, every country has their own color for racing: German Silver, Italian Red, French Blue, USA White...etc
