They are similar.... 1/10 SCT is similar to 1/8 buggy.... Bit bigger then 1/10 ...

You can say the SCT is  1/9.

To me, the main diff is, buggy is using sexy nice looking body, with cool big spoiler, not big wheel thin tire, and big bor shock for big jump.

SCT, wit stupid American style truck body, close to real stupid American style real Short Course race. Speed is about the same as 1/10 buggy, but not as nimble, but huge size bumper front, rear, and both side, plus huge body shell, (or cage) so it is very rare to break ... But the body shell are expensive.....

So... There is NO benefit for SCT ...  overly buggy.... Unless you like stupid American style ....

True, SCT is more "realistic" .. but the first question is, if you like truck or not.

I am in North America, those white dudes are crazy for Trucks ... doesn't matter Ford ... GM or Toyota!

For HK, I actually think SCT should fit pretty well, it is not fast as 1/8 buggy, but still fast, handle well, easy to control, it does not handle "bump" and "big jump" as good as buggy, which is not that popular in HK.

Another reason people like SCT is cost for battery and motor, 2s battery is much cheaper then 4s or 5s, and 540/550 motor is much cheaper then big 70 or 75mm 1/8 motors, but battery and motors are cheap in HK anyway .. (hobbywing .. toro .. etc brands are good and decent)
