I've been using Ni-Zn batteries for more than a month now.  Nominal voltage is 1.6 per cell.  Very very powerful!.

Never use NiMH charger to charge NiZn batteries.  Different chemistry.  Use only the NiZn charger or chargers with NiZn mode, such as PowerLab6/8 chargers.

I'm not sure what's your question.  I'm using AAA size NiZn batteries.  Mini-Z requires 4xAAA.

I have not seen LiPo batteries for Mini-Z on the market yet.  As far as I know and I've seen, for Lithium chemistry, there is only LiFe batteries that fits a MR03 chassis (still requires some modification).  Generally speaking, voltage of around 6V will not kill the board.  Using Ni-Zn as an example, it has characteristics similar to LiPo chemistry and it has nominal voltage of 1.6V per cell (AAA size).  I've tried running Ni-Zn on MR03 stock (without FETs) with PN50T and AD Stock motor without problem.  As a matter of fact, Ni-Zn can actually be charged up to 1.9V.  So, in my tests (not very objective and comprehensive though) the MR03 boards (both with and without TikiTiki mode) should be fine to deal with higher voltage batteries.  However, I would recommend to add FETs though if you would be playing with the car continuously with packs of batteries as Ni-Zn batteries are very hot after playing.
So, back to your question, if you can find LiPo batteries that fits on MR03, the above comments should still hold true.

I have not tested the MR03 board to its limit and so I cannot say what's the actual max voltage the board can accommodate.  I would recommend you to measure the actual voltage output of your modified battery pack.  Under 6.5V should be OK.  6xNiMh should be something like 1.2V*6=7.2V.  Mind you that 1.2V is the nominal voltage.  Actual can be something like 1.25V per cell and so 6 NiMh will be very likely kill the board even for the latest board and I would not recommend you to even try.  Anyway, if you still want to try, accept the risk and be ready to lose a board.  Good luck.

Sorry, my computer doesn't have chinese character input now.  You are correct.  I was just trying to be conservative.  Max Charge-up voltage of a Ni-Zn is around 1.907V but it will quickly drop to below 1.8XV as soon as you remove it from the charging rack.  It'll continue to drop to 1.6X and maintain for a long period and then drop sharply at the 3rd stage.
See the attached graphs of Ni-Zn discharging and charging.

No problem.  Happy to share information and experience.
In my tests, NiZn are more powerful than LiFe.  NiZn batteries are very cheap.  You can buy the factory standard Ni-Zn charger,  Not expensive as well.  Check out Taobao.  If you like NiZn and decide to use more, you may consider getting the PowerLab6 or 8 charger.  It's the only charger that I can find on the market so far that supports Ni-Zn charging mode.  But expensive - around $13xx/$18xx.
LiFe is bit more expensive and you have to buy the charging cable or make one yourself.
I'd say you should try both if you consider yourself a curious person like me. 8-)
