Using WD40 for our 2 stroke engine is NOT ok. It is a "cleaning" agents not just protection. It will cause problem on the piston on our 2 stroke engine so it will surely shorten the life of the engine when you have WD40 inside the engine and when you start the engine with WD 40 inside.
recommendation: If you not using your engine for long time, the "cheapest" way is to disassemble the engine and clean it with WATER using a very soft toothbrush , ( yes water) then dry with hair dryer then use "Tissue paper" to wrap around all the parts. This will stop most of the rusting.
Of course a better way is to use Engine cleaners from Hobby shops, a Alcohol based is better, then put "After run" to the parts and wrap around with Tissue Paper. I have kept engine like these in my warehouse for over 5 years and they don't rust.
Also do not use the plastic cap that came with the engine. They are only good for new engines. Use tissue paper ( they absorb moisture) to cover the opening of your engines.
Kitracer is right.....after run oil is not for u to put into the engin after the race.
i can tell u guys if u just do it like that way ..u just damage yr engin . its even worst then u don`t use it... cause lot of people don`t know. if the after run oil burn in yr engin next time when u start yr engin. it will totally damage yr glow plug ( U will c all of the coil turn black)
the right way to use after run oil is to disassemble the engine , clean every parts of yr engin with cleaner or Alcohol. then dry it with hair dryer.( not too hot , cause it may damage to some types of ball bearing). and then put after run oil to the piston and sleeve .bearing and the cab....
next time when u use the engin ..u should take away the glow plug first and then put a tissue on top ..and press down on the starter , let all the after run oil is rinse out by the fuel before u ignite.
if u just play weekly ....u don`t need to put anything in the engin ....
WD 40 is rubbish ...dont use...there are many many types of oil and cleaning agent suitable for RC in the market...y need to take this risk ..
it will damage to the seal and O ring. in the cab ...and also the silicon on the crank.
thats y the oil is leaking from the engin and idal is not stable.
