for hot weather , better to add 0.2mm head shim for 25%. so total 0.5mm.
it will be much better for the engine unless you go racing

add extra shim for hot weather, then lower back to normal during cooler weather, like 25.
It also depends how much you want to push your engine. For most people, I believe use 0.5mm for .12 and 0.8mm for 21 is safe in most condition unless weather gets below 10C.
(the air density would be very low at 10c so most will learn the engine too much to get the right temperture then the plug will fail!)
Playing with head shims is really the last thing I do. I am having enough trouble to set the right clutch, right Plug and car set up thats why I say 0.5mm head shim so that it is safe.

Dear Kitracer
The engine will run safety is right, but if 0.5mm shim add ,you must to keep watch for the engine to get 5 Minute running time when in the race.

When I add shim, I experinced more run time.
In theory, when you add more shim, you will reduce the timming and so you should save fuel.
Have you experince differently?
