Tamiya Boomerang

My first RC, but I prefer it is in the traditional white colour

Also my first RC. $460 at 1986 summer vacation. A one similar to your boomerang appeared in yahoo japan recently.  

This Boomerang is from Yahoo Japan.

this is not 100% stock..............

the front and the side bumpers look very unnatural to me

also there should be a single horizontal front damper instead of the two ugly vertical dampers

I like your boomerang.  
The hop-up options bring me to my old days after 20 years ago.  I also brought a lot of options to improve my boomerang.
-twin dirt burners front shock;
-You-G rear shock;
-dirt burners rear stabilizer;
-dirt burners small bumper;
-parma front slipper wheel  hub;
-front one-way differential (planned but not purchased);
-Winger body (planned but not purchased).
I spent a lot of money buying options.  The money was enough to buy a turbo optima/Salute.  However, the handling and steering are not comparable to the optima.   

Last year, I brought a boomerang from yahoo japan.  The options at rear are so heavy that C Hing brushless might think it super unnatural.
Anyway, I love mine very much.

Frankly speaking, for the purpose of collection, stock is the best.
However, Hop-ups were crucial in the old days.  Everyone modified their cars with hop-ups for better performance.   What's the difference between my optima and your optima?  Maybe you are stock  and I have gold shocks, stabilizer, super light dogones, motor guard, side guard, front one-way. Then, my optima gets other attention than yours in the playground.  It was a big business and you could find so many 3rd party hop-up manufacturer e.g. Dirt Burners, You-G, Hot trick, Air Supply, Parma, Answer, Tech Racing and even local GPM and Nova.  The big market brought the attention of Manufacturer like Tamiya and Kyosho, Yokomo to release some serious hop-up for their own buggies.  Hop-ups are part of History in RC racing.
I admitted that some hop-ups are quite useless and they add weight to the buggies. e.g. sideguard in on-road playgound in Hong Kong as you mentioned.
Neverhteless, I like hop-ups.

totally agreed !!........

hop-ups are the spirit of vintage buggies !!......... ........

no matter how useless/ irrational are those option parts..........just add beauty to it is more than enough........
