just bought a tomy intruder a few days ago and start the restoration... very difficult..

took me more than 30 mins to clean up one dog bone.....

hello every one, I am going to work on the wheels and I need some help.

1) the sponge tire is stick on the plastic wheel and very difficult to take it out, any suggestions?
2) the plastic wheel looks pretty bad in shape, is it possible to find a replace for that?

there are no replacement for that , use thinner to take off the tyre

finally, took the sponge tire out....

going to buy a set of new tire today or tomorrow~~ (along with the DF03-MS)

If you look into the spec of this car, especially the intruder ex, it is actually very close to our current 2008 buggies. Except there is no slipper clutch, graphite chassis and the batteries are position a bit more laterally than the newer one. In other words, this is almost full spec.

It has aeration shocks just like rc10, nicely machined ball differentials rear and front, belt tension adjuster at the differential, long suspension arms made of solid material, lexam under tray, solid metal motor mount, adjustable rear toe-in, ball bearing steering, universal shafts, center motor mount, very solidly set up suspension mounts, etc..

Looking at the instruction of the car, there is really very little to improve or modify. It is actually hard to find flaw to modify further.

Motor mount may be the only area to improve because it was made of cast alloy, which is a little more brittle than machine aluminium alloy. However, being cast alloy motor mount, it works as a heat sink already, not perfect, but very close from a functional point of view. Also, the quality of the motor mount casting was EXCELLENT!!

If I were Tomy, I would also get bored with 1/10 scale buggies since a close to perfect car has been made...

frankly, I do not think rc cars are very good for making $$, tmoy has better $$ making lines.

Instead of trying to get Masami or find another Masami, better off close the line and move on to something else, which they did and prosper...

in fact ......I think the M2 pitch drive belt is not good enough.......difficult to set the correct tension...........too loose will slip...........too tight will not smooth ..........

this kind of drive belt had been used in Yokomo 91 works for a short while........but soon was replaced by the currently used belt pitch.......a lot better......

You are right, that belt pitch was found in Mugen Bulldog, but bulldog is not adjustable, I remember I ran the bulldog for a whole summer in 1985 after my a-level, I was amazed that the drive belts and differentials were nice and clean and close to 100% new when I open the Mugen bulldog chassis after that long summer holiday, which was more than 3 months.

In that summer, I ran that mugen almost every day!!

I think the original Tomy Intruder comes with a "satellite gear".........while the Tomy EX comes with a fixed spur gear with centre one-way...........

Well, mid differential lor.

Just like 1/8 buggies, have a mid-differential, differential between front and rear axles. Seems that it is not really that useful and as a result we do not see them in 1/10 now

I also wonder, that is why I asked....

I have one with a mid differential and one with a md-one way. No slipper.....

睇返d舊post, 原來好多C兄唔知Intruder 有套Slipper clutch option! 玩Off road 必備，真係正好多！
但用了Slipper clutch就只可用單向，唔可以用衛星齒了
