標題: my 風帆 cannot sail?
today 16:00 I played my new 風帆 at approach beach.

but i cannot run for 1m distance. is it related to wind power?

風帆 needs more wind. i have tested many angles. but i run very slow!

咁!就麻煩少少!!
在網上解釋帆船有關方面細節比較困難。
去圖書館揾,有大量這方面英文書籍。

suggest you bring your sail boat to palmspring pond and play with guys there. but you need to check date 'cause they don't go there every weekend.
作者: asaka    時間: 2008-6-19 23:06
where is  palmspring pond ?
作者: noble    時間: 2008-6-20 00:23
你係新手唔好落海玩,最好到模型船池放。
一來練習二來可以請教其他船友!!

I believe our boatfriends would be happy to set the yacht for you. You can then decide whether or not to play with us. (for details visit http://www.hkrcboat.com/index.htm)

If you had set up your yacht correctly and known how to sail, then I guess you are playing at the time from low tide to high tide and wind power is insufficient to move the yacht against the wave.

Next time, check the following web site first to avoid the same problem if you prefer to sail at sea.

Can you tell me where is "approach beach" ?

Skipper, your guest is correct. First, yesterday around 1pm to 3pm, my first yacht really can move quite quickly under good wind. it crossed over the approach beach. last time, i played it at 5pm to 6pm, the tide is quite low.

i am still enjoyed control it around the beach several rounds in the first 40 minutes.

after that, i take a rest. and then go on. the second run becomes an accident.

it runs far away from me 50 meters. it seems out of control or out of order.

i walk together with the yacht among the shore.

luckily there is a nice man fishing in the sea with boat. he helps me to pick up the yacht for me.

at that moment, the yacht is sinking. he sees the big top cover was lost. I guess many water comes into the boat.

anyway, it is a good lesson and nice experience.

all servos and receivers are gone.

but i still like to play yacht at beach. i will make sure the cover is in good order.

may i know the receiver batteris played for how long?

approach beach is next to ting kau beach, castle peak road.

1. Personnally, I don't recommend to play R/C sail boat at sea, due to many dangerous conditions exposes to player and the model yacht itself. I said this word is based on my past afloat experience in HK water. I had faced many worst conditions at sea with dinghy, and tackle it only by myself, luckily I am still alive and talk with you here.

But if you really like to play at sea, just becareful on your self-safety, and then the little model yacht..., don't try to swim to rescure the out of control r/c boat

2. I can guess your case correctly is because I had this experience before (in real dinghy, not R/C). If the tidal/current is high enough, and the wind power drop to some value, you can only sail "BACKWARD".

3. Refer to my R/C sailing experience, 4 no.s fully charged AA size Ni-Mh batteries, the "anaxxxxx" 2400 mAh cells brought from Ap Liu Stree, can last for 5 hours or more, for spare purpose, you may charge 4 more for one-day (8 hours) r/c sailing activity.

Actually the power to drive the yacht is wind, not electric, the servos draw little energy by compare with other R/C vehicles, may be your cells is ageing and need replacement.

4. To improve your skill in R/C sail boat, you may try to race/compete with other players, you will have more fun when you known more in this "Sport".

Happy sailing.

Keep talking with Skipper or perhaps race with him, you'll learn very quickly about sailing, be it model or real boats.

For dinghy, I sail mainly at Tai Po/Sai Kung district.
For r/c model, I play at sea front, gorvement boat pool and private fish pond.
