標題: Want to buy "Traxxas 1/16 E-Revo VXL"
I want to buy Traxxas 1/16 E-Revo VXL 4WD Brushless Monster Truck.

I have some questions:

(1) Do I need to buy other accessary before I can play? e.g. battery?
(2) For upgrade, which part do I need ?

Get some RPM arms  ...

Battery, I found 3s is the sweet spot, it is a Traxxas, people want some un-control power, and back flip ..  suppose with 2s, this car is fast ..  ~ 45km/hr .. and the esc will take 4s .. and do crazy 80-90km/hr .. totally out of control ..  fun for a little bit ...

Get some 3s ~ 1500mah battery, and the parallel connector to run dual 3s!

I think the Mini Summit looks nicer and cooler ..

(1) what is the s in 2s, 3s and 4s?
(2) if I don't need very fast speed and prefer good controlling, is 2s enough?
(3) by the way, how much is summit 1/16?

Oh .. sorry ..

2s is putting TWO lipo battery together, 3.7v x 2 = 7.2 V

So .. 3s is 11.1v ..  4s is 14.8v

Back to the old day ..  Sanyo/Pana battery is 1.2v per battery, so 7.2v (6 cells) or 8.4v were the trend ..
For Traxxas Mini Revo, 2s ( 7.4v ) is fast enough, 3s (11.1v ) is very fast, 4s (14.8) is crazy, and can smoke the speed controller and motor! (好似civic 加 V8! )

If you don't need very fast, and good control .. then FORGET about Traxxas la..

May I ask why you want a Traxxas?  You can get a real 1/10 buggy, AWD or RWD for much better control and quality (RC10, Durango, Xray etc etc .. )

If you want a "mini" size to fit HK, then Losi Mini 8 or their Mini 8T are probably best mini size RC car you can get .. (about the same size as E-Revo)

With 2s is fast (~ 50km/hr) and you can still put 3s for 70km/r or more!!  好玩到呢...... good looking too, about same price as mini Revo.

(LC racing 1/14 racing is a great buggy too .. great value as well, but no Truggy, and not big american name as LOSI)

Your explanation on battery is very clear.

I play buggy before (electric and nitro, 1/12 and 1/10) but I haven't tried truggy before. So want to have one now.

Savage, e revo, e maxx, summit all are attractive, but 1/10 truggy is too large for me.

I choose e revo cos many ching commented it as a fast and tough RC car, many parts available to replace or upgrade. I like its outlook too.

Or I will make some research on Losi Mini 8 before I make a decision.

but, is there many parts for Lois Mini in the market???

Actually I like big wheel car with some speed.

the bottom of body should a bit higher, but not that like buggy.

唔好買Losi 細車，冇parts 的，識飛都冇用， Trax 紐車好，平靚正，又防水又可以行兩排电，串又得並又得，要快有快要耐有耐，不过隻跟車server 弱小小，其他都ok, 件又平。要記住Trax係rtr 車，唔应該用kit 車比，粗玩一流，落埸就未夠班，不过就好过引，冇買錯的！

上面位師兄講得啱！Losi車或HPI車嘅Parts係香港極難買到，經代理訂起碼要半年以上，唔通你撞難架Losi擺响屋企等parts半年後先玩咩？一係就下下去外國網訂parts。

如果樓主唔係諗住落場鬥，不如買Traxxas車，RTR又防水，又襟撞，唔洗錫住玩，有嘢難咗的話，原廠可以去觀塘rcmart買，再唔係大把其他牌子有出parts俾Traxxas。

Oh.. I didnt know that parts for Losi are hard to get... When I walk by KWS, lots of shops selling Losi.. (more then Traxxas) so I assume parts r easy to get...

After having 4 Mini Revo (2 Revo, one Ken Block one mini Slash, two modded .. 2 stock...) then Mini 8, just hard to compare the quality and design, with two batteries, the Revo is damn heavy, sure need two servos upgrade (i did) then need much better tires... run single battey, nice and easy, but the car is totally off balance.. stock arms need to upgrade, battery cover is easy to wear out if u change battery often, also need wheelie with 3s or more, wing mount is weak as well, the car is very easy to do backflip (some people like it) it is a odd size, more like 1/12 then 1/16 (same size as Tamiya mini, can use the body too)
Again, Traxxas is a must for newbie or someone left RC for decade...and first step to come back..they are fun and RTR, reasonalbe price few years ago. Hobby shops here only sell and care Traxxas... as they also only carry Traxxas parts.

Give credit to Traxxas, great marketing ... 20yr ago, I raced the Traxxas Trx1 pro... :p (something like that)

I have stock summit 1/16. I use two 2s lipo in parallel, lasts a long time. Very good car and very tough.

Hi there, just to put the mini Revo and Losi 8 together, also a HPI XS, which is a very fun and durable truck.

Losi 8 is the best one to ride, while the mRevo and XS are more purely bashing fun machines.
Check with parts support first, for mRevo, strongly recomend to do some upgrade and add extra servo, Losi just few alum upgrades if you plan to do lots of jump. HPI XS, already strong, just keep it with 2s (7.4v) the 540XL 4 pole motor has insane power! better servo is needed.

1/14 LC buggy is awesome car too, I think LC is a Hong Kong or China brand, shoud be easy to get parts, (RC mart sell them?) If you like bigger wheel, both Losi Mini 8 and LC mini Buggy can run standard 1/10 buggy rear wheel, make them a bit Revo look, but more durable and handle better, so check the parts support for LC, some C hing here may know.

EDIT: Found my Modded Revo and Summit (I packed them together with my old Kitchen wares!

) , Summit is Stock, as it is for slower run, and with bigger tire, arms are more durable and forgiven, so it is stock. I did run dual servos, however, the servo arms (and whatever..) broke all the time ...

I put the LC (call Tacon here) together as well .. and my favourite 1/18 .. Xray M18T!

Yes, Traxxas is a good start for newbies like me.  It is RTR and worry-free when you start to play RC hobby.

Stock Traxxas was never a good racing car but it was simple to repair and easy to get parts.  Traxxas did some really good marketing around the world and it really got people to be a RC hobby fan.

I owned 5 Traxxas vehicles and like to bash with them all the time.  I guess most people in HK are bashing rather than racing.
