Well, I initially thought that the jetfoil would be easy to work with but it seems there are lots of room for modification and it is not suitable for newbie like me However, those RTR is usually not fast enough to be of interest, just too slow.
Agree, unlike a Tamiya kit which everything is drilled and milled according to specification, modding a toy boat into a R/C hobby grade model would require skills, with the right tools on hand.
Looking at other 師兄's model boats, it seems the motor mount plate is hand-made and hand drilled. Even the axle module would require precise drilling otherwise it would not be "straight" and it is out of my limited skillset
In the mean time, I'll just watch other people play fast boats then
